Anatomy Scan

Well, the child is definitely not a modest one.  When the sonographer first put the wand on my belly, the baby had its legs up over its head.  It's a boy!

Everything is looking good in there.  The heartbeat is 155 beats per minute and the baby weighs about 12 ounces, which is a little small, but in the average range.  She was unable to see a couple of the veins/arteries from the heart due to the babies position, so we get another ultrasound at 28 weeks:-)

I then had the OB part and I got all kinds of lovely news from the latest in the string of OBs I have seen at this practice.  Due to my weight, I get special treatment to make sure there aren't any problems.  I get to do the pee in a jug for 24-hours Sunday-Monday to check my kidneys, a blood test Monday to check liver and then get to do the 3-hour GD test at my next appointment, just to be safe.

I'm not too pleased by this.  I know it's just CYA procedures, but they could have mentioned all of this would be happening at my first appointment.  I'm also pretty pissed that my last doctor didn't believe me that the crazy amount of weight I gained was weird, so my PCOS remained undiagnosed and got more and more out of control.  The weight already means I don't seem to get a cute baby bump and now it means more needles and tests and money.  It really put a damper on my happy news day.

I need to focus on how excited everyone is that we're having a boy, that he's healthy in there and that I get a bonus 28 week ultrasound.  Happy, happy thoughts...
